Interview with the Examiner.com

February 28th, 2010

Recently, I had the honor to be interviewed for the Examiner.com by author Sandy Alcide.  Sandy is the owner of Motion Medica, a wonderful provider of skincare products for active, athletic men and women.  The goal for this interview was to give motivation, especially to mothers struggling with where to start.  My favorite question was how to ask your family for support.

This is by far one of the toughest concepts my clients have to grasp along their journey.  The feeling of guilt is great…when you “all of a sudden” decide to dedicate your time and energy toward YOUR nutrition, YOUR workouts and YOUR cardio.  I often see women who can’t quite make that jump, feeling better served to do more for others, than for themselves.  My response to this question was “don’t ask…just do it”.  That might seem cold…but I honestly believe that if I were to wait for the approval from my family, friends and co-workers before starting my program, I would have failed.  My advice is to make it a personal journey, not one you are doing for approval, but one you are doing for yourself. Be strong and steadfast and do not pass judgement on others that may not be joining you.  Be an example, and know that you will receive some of the oddest comments from people watching you struggle…forge on!!

You can look like a fitness model and be a mother too

Promise Yourself

February 26th, 2010
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet.
To give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

These days we ALL need a pep up…seems the stress level is at an all time high for many of my clients and friends. Being optimistic isn’t easy! Most of us tend to focus on the negatives associated with our lives, and our bodies. We need to JUST STOP IT!!! Have you considered that everything you do today, think about, or even say is related to your future?

If you are working to change your physique, remember every one of your thoughts and actions is collectively part of the end result. Make it happen. DO it now!
